ODA extends deadline for assisted living relief

ODA extends deadline
for assisted living relief

The Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) has extended the application deadline for relief funds for assisted living providers to Monday, May 23, 2022 at 5:00PM.

Last week, ODA had shared a list of over 200 assisted living facilities that had yet to apply for the relief funds, which had an original deadline of May 6. Thirty LeadingAge Ohio members had appeared on that list, and LeadingAge Ohio staff has been working to actively support providers through their application process. Currently, only four members continue on the list, and we will continue to work to get these applications through the system.

Many members have reached out inquiring about the status of their applications. Once submitted, there is no mechanism for providers to check the status until they receive a rejection notice or the funds are deposited into their bank accounts. Furthermore, for providers with multiple sites, the rejection notices often do not include sufficient detail to identify which site’s application is rejected. ODA officials have noted that once submitted, applications can take up to three weeks to be processed, during which time there is no mechanism to verify the application’s status.

LeadingAge Ohio will continue to reach out to the remaining members on the list, and advocate for more transparency in the process. As a reminder, useful information and FAQs can be found on the ODA website.  The inbox for this funding opportunity is provider_inquiry@age.ohio.gov or questions may be directed to Susan Wallace at swallace@leadingageohio.org.
