You Asked:

Is the Election Statement Addendum and the Patient Notification of Hospice Non-Covered Items, Services and Drugs required for Medicaid like it is for Medicare?

We Answered

LeadingAge Ohio reached out to an Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) representative to ensure the Election Statement Addendum is not required for Medicaid. Their response was:

The Addendum is not required for Medicaid at this time since the ODM rule 5160-56-02 - Hospice services: eligibility and election requirements references the hospice CoP’s from October 1, 2017.

The ODM representative did say the hospice rules will be up for their 5-year rule review and the reference to the hospice CoP’s will be updated and then the Election Statement Addendum will be required with the updated rule.

LeadingAge Ohio will be sure to make hospice providers aware of when the ODM rules are updated and when the Election Statement Addendum will be required for Medicaid recipients.
