Otterbein SeniorLife finalizes affiliation with Kendal at Granville

Four months after announcing a planned affiliation between Kendal at Granville and Otterbein SeniorLife, the affiliation is now a reality. The Otterbein Granville SeniorLife Community, as it will now be called, becomes the 21st Otterbein SeniorLife organization, and joins two other Otterbein SeniorLife locations in the Columbus, Ohio area. The other Otterbein locations in the area are focused exclusively on providing skilled nursing and rehabilitative care. Otterbein Granville extends that capability to all levels on the senior care continuum - Independent Living, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitative Care, all in one outstanding community.

Jill Wilson, Otterbein President and CEO in announcing the finalization of the affiliation to Otterbein Granville residents and employees said, “We are so very pleased to join forces with the Granville community. Their track record of providing 5 Star quality care  along with Otterbein’s 109 years of enhancing the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons, will strengthen our organization and open up all kinds of strategic opportunities to carry out our mission. Our board could not pass up the opportunity to affiliate with a like-minded organization committed to exceptional stewardship. We believe the synergies of our organizations blend very well and will contribute greatly to continued excellent care and support for all residents and work experiences for all employees.”

Doug Helman, the Otterbein Granville Executive Director, said "The affiliation with Otterbein gives the Granville Community a number of advantages for future growth and success.  These include a vision to reposition the Community and increase investment in the campus, both the result of enhanced access to debt restructuring and capital. By joining forces with a large, multi-site entity, the Granville Community can increase its resources and purchasing power, which ultimately leads to providing enhanced facilities and continued excellence in care.”

On Monday, December 6, members of the Executive Leadership team and the Otterbein Corporate Board Chair and Vice Chair were on site at the Granville community and met with partners (employees) and residents and answered a wide variety of questions about the affiliation and future direction of the community.

In the affiliation, Otterbein SeniorLife is the sole member of the Granville Community. In keeping with the standard already in place with all Otterbein communities, the name was changed to Otterbein Granville, and it will continue to retain staff, leadership team, and the local board of directors; but now with support from a home office team to enhance leverage for sales, marketing, communications, financial analyses, strategic planning, procurement, human resources etc.

Join us in welcoming the residents and partners (employees) of Otterbein Granville to the Otterbein SeniorLife family – we are so very pleased the affiliation is complete, and ready for the opportunity ahead to further “enhance the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons.”
