LaRose Relocates Polling Places in Senior Living Communities
Mentioned during the Governor's press conference and again in a recorded statement on Monday, Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced that Ohio’s polling places located in nursing facilities and senior living communities would be relocated for the March 17 primary election next week.
Secretary LaRose followed up on that with a press conference today, where he stated that 128 polling places would be affected by the relocation, and that Ohio’s county Boards of Elections would be reaching out to polling locations regarding these changes.
Some LeadingAge Ohio members were successful in relocating polling places as quickly as Tuesday. LeadingAge Ohio encourages all providers who currently serve or planned to serve as a polling location to reach out to their county Board of Elections to ensure a smooth transition.
Additionally, LaRose encouraged early voting via mail for older adults, and also fielded questions regarding whether older poll workers should resign their positions for the election, encouraging younger Ohioans to fill their shoes. Absentee ballots will be accepted by Boards of Elections as long as they are postmarked no later than Monday, March 16, 2020.
