VP of Human Resources 

The VPHR directs and manages all human resource functions and human resource personnel within the Christian Village Communities’ to align with the (CVC) strategic business plan objectives and mission.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES: 

Essential Functions: 

  1. Keeps abreast of all Federal and State laws and legal issues affecting the human resources function.
  1. Provides consultation on all human resource matters to members of management, utilizing legal counsel as appropriate.
  1. Evaluates and updates personnel policies, procedures and systems to ensure alignment with business objectives and community culture.  This includes the Employee Handbook and Job Descriptions.
  1. Establishes and monitors the process for maintaining all personnel files, confidentiality of such records, and release of information contained within.  Conducts periodic audits of all files.
  1. Manages recruitment process in compliance with all Federal, State and local laws.
  1. Manages the employee intake process: processing applications, interviewing, screening, and new hire orientation.  Manages maintenance of required logs 
  1. Assists in the development and the administration of all employee benefit programs and oversees annual benefits open enrollment.  Functions as contact person for insurance carriers.
  1. Develops performance evaluations and reward/recognition systems to ensure consistency with business objectives and to remain externally competitive and internally equitable. 
  1. Periodically reviews employee metrics (turnover, satisfaction, exit interviews) and makes recommendations to CEO regarding changes to policies, procedures, reward systems or benefits that will improve employee satisfaction, retention and enhance career development.
  1. Manages the Workers’ Compensation program and serves as the liaison with the PEO and the internal Safety Committee.
  1. Manages all Unemployment Compensation claims, hearings and appeals.
  1. Serves as an advocate for employees and acts in a conciliatory role concerning employee grievances.  Confers with and counsels employee s regarding personnel issues and work related concerns.  
  1. Develops and implements staff development and staff education programs to insure compliance with ODH, COA and other agencies. 
  1. Reviews all personnel corrective actions and is involved in all termination decisions. Serves as resource for management staff, explaining and interpreting personnel procedures and the implications of applicable laws and regulations.
  1. Oversight and periodic involvement with outsourced payroll systems and processes.
  1. In addition to providing strategic HR leadership, the VPHR will be involved in day to day operations.
  1. Keeps the CEO apprised of the work environment and employees issues.
  1. Has oversight of the Director of HR at CVMH, the HR Generalist at CVM and the receptionists at CVM.
  1. The VP HR serves as the Corporate Compliance Officer and conducts the annual compliance audit.
  1. The VPHR is a member of the Executive Council and represents all HR functions and concerns.
  1. The VPHR serves as company liaison for the Resident/Employee Christmas fund.
  1. Is responsible for OSHA recordkeeping.

Other Duties: 

  1. Attends in-service training and education sessions.
  1. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by CEO.             

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. A minimum of three to five years management level human resources generalist experience.
  1. Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal labor regulations, personnel administration, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, recruiting and selection, and training and development.
  1. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and written and verbal communication skills.  Must be comfortable with public speaking, both inside and outside the organization.  Occasional presentations to the Board of Directors required.
  1. Experience with Human Resource Information Systems, database management and payroll software. .
  1. Must have a four-year degree in Human Resources or related field. SPHR and/or SHRM-SCU certification(s) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Must be able to move throughout the building and grounds as needed throughout the day; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Good visual and hearing acuity required; good verbal communication skills required. Must be able to speak English. May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors.
